Still at Dardanelles but we moved to a different campsite. We were in site#26 but are now in #3. Still beside the river but further away from the Dardanelles Resort across the road. They run a BIG generator from about 7 am to 10 pm and the noise of it became annoying background sound pretty quickly. It's a lot harder to hear at this end of the campground. This site has better midday shade as well. There is no one here except us although I can hear occasional voices from over the road. Our view over the river is of a hillside of huge stones. A fire has swept down that hillside sometime in the past and burned all the trees. Looks like the fire was stopped at the river, so most of the trees on this side have not been burned. Some near the water have been badly scorched. We believe we have heard a couple of trees fall while here, and maybe a rock has crashed down as well.
There is a blue jay here who wants to check out our stuff. He did a fast, flying reconnaissance once over the picnic table and since then he has been trying to get into the van. We leave the doors open so it doesn't heat up too much in there, and this jay flies from branch to branch always getting closer and checking to see where we are. He could practically FALL into the van from the close branches he gets on; then Dave waves him off and closes the doors for awhile. Ongoing entertainment.
On Saturday night the resort over the road had a live band playing outside. They started at 6pm and ended about 10pm. From our angle the music was loud and they sounded terrible. Hope they sounded a little better closeup.
