Return to the States

We are back in the US now.

The red-eye direct flight from Leon to Los Angeles was uncomfortable.  Seats did not recline. And although they turned off the lights so people could sleep, the stewardess talked the entire flight so I didn’t get any rest.  Her Spanish was very fast and very high-pitched, so I couldnt follow the conversation (thank the Lord) but the drone of her speech went on and on and on.  Seemed like the only break in her talking was for announcements from the cockpit.

So strange to be suddenly in the states again.  Stayed a few days with Hannah’s family in Santa Monica.  Dave saw the dentist and I saw my physician..  We both got Covid booster shots.  We scheduled an early morning Uber to Union Station in LA, then caught the Pacific Surfliner train to Santa Barbara, then an Amtrak bus to Santa Maria, then an Uber to Nipomo and picked up the van—Morrison—who’d been relaxing in John and Laura’s backyard since we departed in February for Mexico.  Checked under Morrison’s hood and he started right up.  Got fuel, then headed North to Salinas and Zoey’s house.

We’ve been dog sitting at Zoey’s now for a few days, and they return this afternoon from a hockey tournament vacation.  We’ll stay another week with them while Morrison gets some preventative care at the auto shop.  After that we’ll probably stay with Rory and Thomas while Dave does some kitchen building inside Morrison.  Then we have a week planned when Hannah and kids will come to Zoey's and we'll have a week of Cousin Crazyness.  Looking forward to it.
