Morrison Goes To The Shop
When we left Santa Monica after a medical appointment in late August, Morrison made it to Malibu, then konked out on a long downhill stretch of road. Dave managed to make a right turn into a street just off the PCH when he realized we had no power, then a kind fellow helped us push Morrison to a safe curbside parking spot. Eventually we got a tow from Malibu to the Ford dealership in Oxnard. Made it there before closing on a Thursday night. Spent that night in an expensive (but nice) Hilton. Had a comfort meal at Outback Steakhouse. On Friday we rented a UHaul van and camped in it along the coast while Morrison got fixed up with a new fuel pump.
We finally got Morrison back on the road on the following Thursday. Went up the California and Oregon coast. Every campground had hung out their “Campground Full” sign. This is late August. Everybody was out camping!! Had some great “Mediterrranean” meals though, which so far translates to Italian restaurants. Had a great caprese salad that included peaches, and a sweet potato lasagna that was yummy. Wanted to get some MO’s Clam Chowder in Newport, Oregon, but the town was on tourist overload and EVERYONE wanted clam chowder, so we skipped it.
