Left Ruby Marshes

Such a beautiful Valley, so lush with all the water.  The road through here is historically called the "Hastings Cutoff" which saved emigrants 250 miles in their crossing of Nevada to the Sierras.  The other route (along the Humboldt River) was longer, although water and animal feed were more reliably available there.

All day travel day.  Did some chores in Elko and Winnemucca. Paid the Discover bill online and texted family.  Threw some excess stuff in various trash cans.  Got some water at Scott's Shady Court Motel in Winnemucca (where Grandpa F and Uncle Tom used to basically run an office from in the early days of the sheep business). Headed north from Winnemucca and pulled out in the desert to spend the night.  Very powdery ground.
