November 21, “Foghorn” Pullout, Pacific Grove, CA
Extremely low tide this afternoon. Lots and lots of seaweed revealed on the rocks near shore. At one spot, the rocks were covered with Canadian geese, all facing seaward. I have often seen the geese in this area, but never before have I seen them on the rocks. They are usually across the road nibbling on the golf course.
The sun slipped into the ocean horizon at 4:55 pm. And now at 5:38 the sky is a deep orange due to a slightly overcast sky. So gorgeous. For a moment, a V of pelicans flew high enough above the water to be silhouetted in the sunset. Too bad I missed that for a photo. The tide is slowly coming in, filling up the low spaces between the shore rocks. By 9 pm it will be an exceptionally high tide. It’ll be too dark here to appreciate it, though. At 5:49 pm the color suddenly faded from the sky with barely a hint left behind.
