Settling into Greeley, CO

We moved into our apartment on Friday, July 26.  For a while we managed with our van mattress on the floor, our two camp chairs, and our collapsible camp table.  We had our camp dishes and cookware.  A couple of blocks away is a large Goodwill store.  We found a few plates, coffee mugs, glassware, mixing bowls, and a glass and metal coffee table there.  Walmart provided a TV (which now sits on the coffee table), dish towels and bath towels, and Wayfair had a “Black Friday in July” sale so I ordered two recliners, a bed frame, new mattress, a dinette table and chairs, and area rugs.  From a Habitat for Humanity Restore I bought an “antique” drop-front desk so I have a place to play with watercolors, and Dave bought a wooden stool to sit on when playing his guitar or mandolin.  We are feeling cozy in our new spot.

Our apartment windows face North, so we have a terrific view of Greeley West Park.  Part wetlands with a small lake and part manicured, mowed area with shade trees and a playground.  We walk here daily and especially appreciate the lake view.  The other morning, a very large V of migrating birds passed over, it seemed like hundreds. It caught our attention because they were not geese.  Instead of honking, these birds made a strange burbling kind of sound.  Dave thinks they were egrets.  They were flying so high that I couldn't see detail, but I surely heard them.  Less than a mile away is the Cache la Poudre River.  We assume they were headed that way to take a break on their journey South.
