Places We Went To This Summer

 

Visited all our kids after returning from Mexico to visit Nate.

 

Went to Arkansas to dog sit for brother Bob.

 

In Kansas visited family graves in Howard and Oak Valley.

 

Visited the Tall Grass Prairie  in Kansas and hiked among bison.

 

Went to Beatrice, Nebraska to visit the homesteading museum.  The ranger there located and printed out the Homestead Deed signed by Dave’s great grandfather.

 

Went to Fort Kearney, Nebraska, along the Oregon Trail.

 

Surprisingly had some delicious Mexican food in Ogallala, Nebraska.  Their “signature dish” of Arroz con Pollo was outstanding.

 

Camped in the Pawnee Grasslands in northeastern Colorado.

 

Camped  in the Comanche Grasslands in southeastern Colorado.

 

Camped at Big Meadow Reservoir  at the Continental Divide in southern Colorado. Also at Transfer Campground high among the aspens.

 

Stayed with Hannah and fam while she recuperated from surgery.  Had some doctor appointments.

 

Quick trip up the coast, then back for more doctor appointments.  (Hurricane warnings.)

 

Broke down in Malibu/Oxnard for a week.  Camped in a rented UHaul van.

 

Traveled thru Sacramento valley, up thru Shasta and Weed (lots of heavy rain on the freeway).  Tulelake and Lava Beds Monument.

 

Got flu and RSV shots in Salem, OR.  Went to End of the Oregon Trail Museum in Oregon City and Multnomah  Falls in Waterfall Corrider.

 

Camped for a week near Ellensburg, WA,.  Ill with effects of flu and RSV shots.

 

Toured Widbey Island, WA, loved Anacortes, WA.

 

Dave put new brake pads on Morrison in a Home Depot parking lot in Burlington, WA.

 

Went to Dufur, WA cemetery looking for Filbin relatives.

 

Terrible smoke from Oregon wildfires in Bend.  Air quality 159.

 

Camped at Miller Lake near Crater Lake, OR

 

Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuge—recording bird sounds.  Lots of egrets in pairs.

 

Camped at Medicine Lake, east of Mt Shasta.
